Snowmass, Aspen, and Roaring Fork Valley Pickleball Stakeholders:

First off, the Town of Snowmass Village Recreation Department would like to thank everyone for your participation, feedback, and advocacy for all things Snowmass Village Pickleball. This year, we were able to make improvements to our facilities, provide more programming, host events and satisfy our local community and many visitors’ pickleball playing needs alike. We truly appreciate your patronage and hope to continue to enhance your experience in the future.

We would like to personally recognize the efforts of our Snowmass Village Ambassador John Flynn and Aspen Ambassador Sam Louras, our programming spearheaded by Trey Palmer, and the return of Chris Wells to provide her professional services, instruction, and insight to our community.

In addition, this email serves as information on the timeframe for our outdoor courts, winter programming and future developments.

Snowmass Village Outdoor Pickleball Court Closing

The last day that our outdoor courts will be available for play is Sunday, October 17th. Our parks crew will break down the nets for storage so we can begin the transition to winter and set up our ice skating rink on the tennis and pickleball courts.

Winter Drop-In Pickleball at the Recreation Center

Indoor drop-in pickleball will return on Saturday, October 23rd and run every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through April 30th, 2022, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

Winter pickleball passes are available for $240, which allows an individual to attend as many drop-in sessions as they would like throughout the winter. Like last year, we will require attendees to purchase and reserve their spot in advance through the online catalog on our website. Reservations for each week of pickleball will become available at 8:00pm the Saturday prior to that week. For example, reservations for November 9th, 11th and 13th will be available at 8:00pm on Saturday, November 6th.

To start, we will allow a maximum of 12 participants per drop-in. As our gymnasium has the capacity of two courts, we set this number to minimize waiting times to play if 8 people total are able to play at one time.

Please be aware that at this time, all patrons of the recreation center are required to wear a mask while indoors. This includes in the gymnasium and during pickleball play.

Drop-in pickleball will not be held on Thanksgiving or during the Christmas and New Year’s weeks to accommodate the increase in daily patrons as well as our kids camp.

Click here for directions to purchase a winter pickleball pass and/or reserve a spot for drop-in pickleball.

Winter Pickleball Ladder Leagues

Ladder Leagues for 3.0 - 4.0 players will continue indoors during the late Fall and Winter months with a similar structure and format to the summer. Each Ladder League will span 3 weeks and take place on Friday mornings from 9:00am – 12:00pm at the Recreation Center. These leagues will be limited to 12 participants and cost $40 per person.

The first ladder league will begin on November 5th and registration is open now.

Future Improvements to Our Pickleball Facilities

The Town of Snowmass Village Recreation Department is planning to continue to improve nets by purchasing additional Truss Nets until we can furnish our courts with 8 strong, semi-permanent nets that can withstand consistent use and the elements for years to come.

Additionally, if you visited the courts this week, you may have discovered that two hanging cross nets have been installed to divide the pickleball and tennis courts as well as separate the two sets of four pickleball courts, meaning less cross traffic and runaway balls!

We hope to see you soon!
